The recent rains have provided an opportunity for us to allow mother nature to do its part in cleaning our main irrigation pond next to the 10th tee. Azolla, a floating weed that at times has covered the majority of the pond’s surface, has been an eyesore that we have been intent on improving. This past season we utilized both mechanical and biological means in an attempt to control.

The recent rainfall has enabled the creek along Hole #7 to flow into our pond, thereby raising the water level of the pond high enough for it to go over the spillway near the bridge on #10 Tee. Along with the water, the azolla has gone over as well, allowing the pond to look the way we would like it to be. This usually happens in October but with the lack of heavy storms it has taken this long.

We will continue to remove this weed all through the 2018 season to keep the ponds looking clean.
