Week of February 23rd

This past week had many long frost delays that not only pushes back tee times but also does not allow us to go onto the grass to mow. It was so cold that the bunkers remained frozen until late morning. While we wait for the mornings to warm up we spend the time detailing equipment and the maintenance shop. Our fairway topdresser is getting a new belt, rollers and bearings. This machine will take a week to rebuild but when completed it will be like new.

We know that the warm temperatures are around the corner so this is a perfect time to lay sod in areas where the grass is thin. We started on hole seven to the right of the tee and green. These areas are thin because of the lack of irrigation coverage. We will be adding new sprinkler heads to 7 Tee to help this grass stay alive in the summer heat.

The grass chosen for the right rough of 7 Green is a special drought tolerant fescue that should do very well in that spot.
