Week of December 5th

We all wanted the rain……well we got it. Over the last two weeks we received 8.5″ of rain. When it came down, it came down hard causing the bunker sand to get washed off the faces. The bunkers were washed out two different times and every time they do we have to shovel the sand back onto the bunker faces. This takes many days for the maintenance team to complete. The biggest problem we see when the sand gets washed down is that the soil and rocks get mixed with the sand.

This will make the sand not drain properly and we all don’t like rocks in the bunkers. Most winters we only get a handful of storms that do this to the bunkers unfortunately we already had two.

This rain has delayed our bunker project where we will be replacing contaminated sand with new sand. We should be able to complete 21 bunkers by the middle of March. Next week we will be starting with the fairway bunkers on Holes 18 and 8. As they are being worked on the bunkers will be played as “ground under repair” for the few days it takes to complete them. I will be posting here throughout the winter with updates.
