The picture above is the first mowing we performed of the renovated driving range tee on Thursday. This will promote tillering which will promote lateral growth and help fill in the turf. A tiller is a stem produced by the grass plant and refers to all shoots that grow after the initial parent shoot grows from seed.

Along with that Toby has been visiting the club to help out with keeping the geese off the golf course. This is the busy season when they are looking for a place to nest.
We are also gearing up for irrigation season, which means numerous repairs due to our aging irrigation system and other issues like tree roots that affect the pipe and wire in the ground.

It also looks like our rainy season is coming to and end. We currently have recorded 16.21 inches for the year, which is well below our average of 28 – 32 inches. Hopefully next season will get back on track, so our reservoir’s can recuperate from the dry season.
Yours in turf,
Stacy L. Wallace, Golf Course Superintendent..
