It has come to my attention several people have inquired regarding the number of cups in the north practice putting green. As you can visually see, this green has struggled this summer due to various factors, which include traffic (amount of use), quality of irrigation water, and disease. Because of this, we made a conscious decision to limit the number of hole locations so we can move the traffic around while allowing areas to recover. While I appreciate the desire to have more cups, we will continue with the current practice until this green fully recovers. Hopefully, this enlightens everyone to the process.
You can see the stress on the edges of the practice green, especially the more concentrated walk on and off areas.
One project, we completed this month was the replacement of the electrical panel for the well along Arnold Drive. Below are some before and after pictures.
You can see the deterioration, especially at the bottom of the panel.
New panel and structure in place.
As we have stated in previous blogs, the gate system is to help alleviate soil compaction issues around our greens and tees. Although we have seen some improvement in high traffic areas, we still need to get everyone invested in the process for it to work properly. With the increase of rounds from the pandemic, we have decided to repost the gate system process for everyone to review.
The gate system will have an entrance and exit to the hole. The picture above is the entrance. Many of the areas that struggle are around greens and tees. With the gate system, you will keep your cart on the path until you reach the entry gate (two posts with a green top) and enter the hole at this point. Once you enter, please do your best to keep cart traffic to the fairway and out of the rough.
Once you reach the signs in the fairways, follow the arrow direction and you will leave the fairway through the exit gate post. From here you will stay on the cart path the remainder of the hole. We will move them on a daily basis to distribute the wear and tear of golf cart usage appropriately. We thank you in advance in adopting the new process and ask that you adhere to it at all times.
the course is in exceptional condition given the weather we have had. The $$ set aside for handwatering is a real boost and only comes if management really cares. Removing the RR ties and all that entails is a real upgrade. The raising of sprinkler heads and sod work around the heads is expensive and very much appreciated. In short, good job!
