As I sit and write this, we are drying out between rain events. The rough is definitely thick and dense due to the inability to mow it during the wet periods we have been going through. Fortunately, we have been able to mow a majority of the property before the next rain event expected Monday night into Tuesday. To date, we have received 10.71 inches of rainfall this month and 46.92 inches for the season. Below are a few pictures of the course following our most recent storms.

With Spring upon us, we will start using the turf portion of the north driving range tee more often. Due to the wet and cold winter season, we had to use the synthetic tee more often than in the past. In the picture below you can see a seeded area from November. We can get seed to germinate in the winter months, but it does not have the ability to mature due to the shorter days and cooler soil temperatures.

Another item to remind everyone is our upcoming green aeration schedule. We will be closed April 11-13 to perform this procedure weather permitting.
Yours in turf,
Stacy L. Wallace, Golf Course Superintendent

Thanks for the team’s great efforts keeping the course playable for much of the rainy season. Crazy conditions to manage.
