July 4th, 2023 Update

Due to some power issues with PG&E at our maintenance facility, I did not get the blog written for the Sunday deadline. With temperatures reaching 100 + Saturday and Sunday it was essential to oversee our irrigation needs Saturday night through Sunday morning due to the power outage.

As we stated last week, the plan was to sod hole #3 this week, but due to the holiday and the ability to get sod, this has been moved to next week. By that time #4 will also be ready for sod and possibly portions of # 13.

In this picture you can see the right side of #4 has been shaped out. The next step starting Wednesday is to cut the bunker edges, install drainage, Bunker Solutions, and sand.
Here you have Jason Gold, the shaper for Tripp Davis discussing the right side of #13 green with Senior Design Architect, Kyle Downs. The green site should be approved and ready for drainage, bunker edging, and all the items discussed above by the end of the week with initial shaping starting Wednesday on the fairway areas.
The debris site at #3 has been reshaped and blended into the natural landscape. You will see some sand stockpiles from the old bunkers throughout the property that will be used for construction finish work and topdressing of areas on the property. You will see these debris sites at different areas throughout the property during the construction. They will all be reshaped like #3 once the construction leaves the area.
One of the areas we have taken advantage of bringing back to life during the construction is the green and fairway nursery to the right of #2 green. We installed irrigation in that area back in 2005. The green portion had dwindled down to nothing, and the fairway section was completely gone.
Here is a picture of #14 with the sod removed from the designated construction areas. This work has been completed on #13, #14, #15, and #2. In the next two weeks, you will see these areas being worked on and taking shape.

After the above-mentioned holes, the work will move to 5,6, 12 and 7. Hopefully we do not have the power issues that plagued us this week and I can get the next update out next Sunday. As always, please feel to contact me or stop me on the golf course if you have any questions about the project or anything else.

Yours in turf,

Stacy L. Wallace, Golf Course Superintendent
