July 16, 2023 Update

This week #3 was completed with the laying of the sod on Monday. As of today, we are seeing good root growth on the sod and the beginning of root penetration into the native soil. I expect us to completely open this hole mid-week. The turf (sod) height came in higher than expected, so we will have to slowly mow down the fairway areas over time so it will not play as designed until this process is completed. We had scheduled another sod crew to come in this Saturday, but we postponed that due to the extremely hot weather that was predicted. The sod crews are scheduled for next Thursday and Friday. Currently #4 is ready for final sod and we expect #13, #14, and possibly parts of #2 to get sod at the end of the week.

Here you see the finished look at #3 Green.
#3 finished fairway bunkering.
In this picture you see DHR finishing the last fairway bunker at #13. We expect them to finish final shaping of #13 Monday and move to #14.
Here you see the rough shaping taking place at #14 which was completed Friday.
The initial shaper from Tripp Davis and Associates finished #14 Friday and moved to #2. As of Saturday, he has the rough shaping of the back of #2 green done and has moved to the front of the green.

This coming week you will see #13 & #14 final shaping taking place with that work moving to #2 and #15. We will also remove the sod from the disturbance (construction) zones at #5 to prepare to move to that hole after #15. As we stated earlier significant sod will be laid this Thursday and Friday.

As always, please feel to contact me or stop me on the golf course if you have any questions about the project or anything else.

Yours in turf,

Stacy L. Wallace, Golf Course Superintendent
