September 16, 2023 Update

First of all, I want to thank everyone for your patience during the bunker renovation project. We understand the inconvenience it can be, so your cooperation has been greatly appreciated. With that being said, we are getting close to the finish line with approximately 4 weeks of work left from a construction point. After the construction, the grow-in will continue which will have less effect on the golfing round.

This week 11, 16, and 10 were finished along with the majority of 17. We still have some sod work on 17 which is scheduled to be completed at the end of next week along with 1. Rough shaping has begun on 18 along with sod removal on holes 9 & 8. The only remaining sod removal is around the 8th green and the last fairway bunker site. We will begin that work next week as we continue finish and rough shaping on 1 & 18.

Here is the finished look at #11.

17 sod installation.
We have noticed golf car traffic on the fescue turf between bunkers. Please refrain from driving the car in these tight areas or turf quality will deteriorate.
One of the biggest challenges we have had during this renovation is procuring quality sod. Because of this we sent a large quantity of sod back to the supplier. You will see areas like the photo above. Once we complete the construction phase, we will mark and measure all the problem areas for the sod supplier to come back and replace.

Please feel free to contact me with any questions or feel free to stop me on the golf course to discuss.

Yours in turf,

Stacy L. Wallace, golf Course Superintendent
