Following is the September newsletter for those that may have missed it. As we move into September, our fall aeration programs will begin starting with the fairway sanding, aeration and interseeding process. The golf course will be closed Monday September 15th to allow us to begin this procedure and will open back up Tuesday the 16th. We will still be performing the fairway aeration when we reopen. The one-day closure allows us to get a head start. The green organic removal procedure will begin on Tuesday October 7th and will be closed for a few days to perform. We will communicate in the blog later this month on the closure period.
As everyone knows now, the installation of the new irrigation system will begin on September 15th. We will communicate weekly with the blog as we did with the bunker project.
One quick project we performed last week was the installation of a new drain line left of #11 fairway bunkers. The new landforms and heavy clay soil in this area created a wet section, therefore the need for new drainage. You can see in the picture where this was installed. We will mark it Ground Under Repair until the sod is fully rooted in the soil.

Yours in turf,
Stacy L. Wallace, Class A Golf Course Superintendent
