Agronomy Update April 19th, 2025

The agronomy team accomplished the goal for the period as a result of the three-day closure. They also implemented some additional procedures. The core aeration of the 21 putting surfaces was completed along with the core aeration of fairways 1-10, and 18. We will complete the fairway aeration next week.

The first step for the green procedure is to pull cores. This removes approximately 10 percent of the organic matter to the surface.
Once the machine has pulled the cores, the staff picks up the organic matter and cleans off the surface.
After the surface is cleaned, we incorporate new sand into the holes. Approximately 52 tons of sand is used for this process on the 21 putting greens.

As I mentioned we also aerated 11 fairways this week and will finish that process next week. The holes remaining are 11 through 16.

In the next blog, we will discuss the fairway aeration process and what projects will be next.

Yours in turf,

Stacy L. Wallace, Class A Golf Course Superintendent

    Stacey,

2 things I think would be a great improvement:

    • A flatter walking path from the tee box along the lake at #10
    • a path from the #15 greenside cart path cutting across the grass to the cart path on by the 16th tee box. A shortcut we often take to cut across the cart path loop, especially when 15 pin is up front.

    thanks,

    John Wilson
