Agronomy Update October 17th, 2026

Below are bullet points of work completed over the last two weeks outside of daily maintenance.

  • Mowed/sprayed native areas for broadleaf weeds.
  • Bunker surround grooming.
  • Continue aerating rough/seeding thin areas.
  • Greens spray: wetting agent/soil treatment.
  • Sprayed cart path weeds.
  • Fairway spray.
  • Greens spray.
  • Verti-cut/topdress green.
  • Continue rough aeration. Will continue after the Caber Toss this upcoming week.
  • Tree pruning by outside contractor.
We had tree contractor do some pruning in the 9 & 18 area last week. We have more work scheduled on the 21st this month.

Now that we have had a season to assess the performance of our new irrigation system, the one item that stands out is the more efficient coverage due to the proper hydraulics in the ground and head spacing for water distribution. With that comes a denser rough than we have had in the past outside the rainy season. Because of that we are experimenting with rough mowing heights and mowing schedules. We performed the first height adjustment this week. It will take a couple of mowings to see the full benefit of the lower heights, so please provide feedback as we move forward.

One other item is tee aeration this upcoming week. We are scheduled to do this work Wednesday and Thursday. Tee markers will be set up off to the side of the tee so the work can be performed with play. Disruption should be minimal during this procedure.

As always please feel free to send me an email or wave me down on the golf course with any questions.

Yours in turf,

Stacy L. Wallace, Golf Course Superintendent
